Who I am

My Roots

I grew up in Dayton, Ohio and spent my youth riding horses, perfecting my fine art skills in painting and drawing, and building some strong friendships that I still have today. I come from a family of artists. My father and Aunt were both painters & potterers. My uncle ran two successful ad agencies. Creativity runs deep. I won many art competitions as a young girl and was commissioned to do paintings in my early years.

Where it Began

I was strongly encouraged by my art teacher to go to art school. I applied to and was accepted with scholarship to the Columbus College of Art and Design. I spent 4 wonderful years earning my BFA on a small campus, learning the fundamentals of design, color theory and critical thinking. I was hired right out of college at the advertising agency Ten United Worldwide. I got my feet wet as a graphic designer, working on projects with Huntington Bank, First Star, the Boys & Girls Club of America, and Perkins just to name a few.

Refining Skills

I then worked at a small design firm that specialized in the Healthcare industry with its primary clients being Ohio Health and Mylan Pharmaceuticals. My next leap was as an in-house designer at the Dearfoams® Company (slippers). As an in-house designer, my role was quite broad. Projects ranged from marketing brochures and sales sheets to the holiday packaging for Wal-Mart, Macy’s, Kohls, and Target. POS displays were also designed in conjunction with the packaging. I also assisted with the redesign of our showroom in the Empire State building which was flipped twice a year to keep it fresh. I was a primary contact for our factory in China and saw all packages through production.

The Job That Catapulted My Career

My most meaningful job as a graphic designer was at Interbrand, an international retail design firm. This amazing experience presented me with the opportunity to design for a slew of nationally recognized consumer brands. Some of my most successful projects during my 5 years there were the redesign of new flagship store design concepts for Au Bon Pain, P&G, 24 HR Fitness, Babies R Us, Amway, Golfsmith, Nutrisystem, and Ultra Diamonds. My career there was spectacular, and I look upon those days fondly. I worked with some of the most creative and inspirational people in the industry. That role shaped me into the designer I am today and gave me the tools I needed to start my own business.

Let’s talk about how I can help you with you project.

I started Jen Chapman Creative in the fall of 2011.

I acquired my first clients by regularly attending tradeshows where I could meet the owners of companies face to face. I still work with many of those first clients today. I currently work with a broad spectrum of clients, ranging from startups to large corporations and agencies. I make myself readily available to my clients. I am not the designer that will disappear, take weeks to respond, or close up shop to go back to a 9-5. You can rely on me to get the job done right and on time.

I love my work and what I do.

Real Reviews from Real People

The reviews don’t lie. Real testimonies from real people. I do what I say I’m going to do. I’m reliable, and available. I don’t ghost people-ever. If you need to talk, let’s talk. Just give me a ring.

These are the geniuses I work with.

I have always said, “If I can’t do it, I know someone who can.” I have taken great care to find these special people whose talents the areas where design cannot. I only work with the best because their work is a reflection upon me and my business and I take that very seriously.
